ISO Testing

At Goldhawk Towers, we take design & manufacturing seriously. Once we’ve got the geometry right and a frame design is ready for production, it’s put through ISO testing (Race frame levels) to make sure all is good. These tests are carried out for us by the manufacturer and whilst Jeff, Designer in Chief at Goldhawk is familiar with the numbers, they can be hard to visualise.

To give you an idea of what a fork impact test actually looks like, we replicated the test in our workshop. The setup is basic, but the numbers are real. A 22.5 Kg weight, dropped from 750mm onto a hardened steel axle with no failure permitted. The height we used actually exceeds the ISO levels just for good measure.

The fork passed and it was a fun afternoon…..
